Arsene Wenger has risked the ire of Arsenal fans by insisting they need to unite and show the same qualities Tottenham supporters have been exhibiting this season.
A growing section of the club’s fanbase is hoping to see a managerial
change in the summer, with Wenger looking almost certain to preside
over another season of relative mediocrity.
Arsenal’s hopes of a first Premier League title since 2004 went up in
smoke following a shambolic 3-1 defeat at Chelsea last week, while they
remain heavy underdogs to make it past Bayern Munich and into the
quarter final stages of the Champions League for the first time in six
years.

The atmosphere at the Emirates is a far cry from the one down the
Seven Sisters road, where Tottenham fans are fully behind Mauricio
Pochettino and Wenger feels his club would benefit from putting on a
united front ahead of a crucial run of fixtures.
He said: ‘Our fans have been consistent and have a high level of
expectation as I do but I don’t feel you can be a fan until last Tuesday
and then not be behind the team any more – it doesn’t make sense.
‘All the other clubs, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool,
they have big expectations and big history. We are in a fight and we
have to be united or we have no chance
‘You have Tottenham as well and everyone is behind their team and we
have to do the same. Even if we have had two disappointed results I want
the fans to be behind the team. Focus on what we do well. They were
great players last Tuesday and they are still great players.’
