“Tell the truth”, an anguished Jose Mourinho urged reporters after watching his Manchester United side blow another opportunity to close their fellow Champions League chasers in the wake of Wednesday’s goalless draw at home to Hull City.
He was talking specifically about why there appears to be one rule for him and another for rival managers, and while some tend to automatically tune out when they hear Mourinho start up about referees, unwilling to indulge in his perceived persecution complex.
Perhaps, on this occasion, he has a point.
